I send in our required documentation to IDOC on Monday, February 18. As of this morning they still are showing that no records have been received. I have called them twice this week and both times they said that I should simply wait for the status to be updated.

I am a bit frantic since the schools' deadline was yesterday. Is this situation normal? Should I send another set of documents to them? The Post Office is certainly known to have lost mail.

This system seems horrible. Give parents a three week window to respond but have a two week delay built in to the process. This might be the most significant financial transaction our family has ever made and it is being handled using antiquated technology and non-helpful workers.

We had a huge IDOC delay last year. It got to the point where either IDOC or the school did say to go ahead and re-send, and we did. Meantime, assuming that forms with all our financial information had gone astray in the mail, we went through the process of registering a potential identity theft situation. And then both packets got acknowledged by IDOC within a day of one another. Big sigh of relief from us.

Communicate with your schools and let them know that the items have been sent but not yet acknowledged by IDOC. Most likely they will also tell you to wait, and that you won’t be penalized. But at least they can make a note on your child’s application. And they can let you know at what point you should assume it really was lost and re-send it.

Seriously, they market themselves to schools saying docs are available online within 72 hours of receipt of IDOC package. They tell us to wait 7-8 days for mail and processing time. When you call them, they say 5 business days after receipt.

Well, we mailed out package on Feb 22nd, and College Board IDOC received it Feb 25th (from USPS tracking). No sign of it being processed yet (2 weeks). We keep getting emails that we haven’t sent the documents in. Their Customer Service keeps asking me to wait one more day. They have a log for problem packages, but none for received and complete packages. They have no tracking until it is processed. Well, what if they lost it or shredded it. I would never know. Meanwhile, deadline was March 1st. Their emails promise that someone will contact me within 24 hours. 72 hours later…crickets. Their call center people say they’re escalating to their managers, and that they would call me. Days later…crickets.

This is a useless service. I sent two tax doc packages to schools this week. Both arrived in two days and status was updated online the same day…by both schools. Meanwhile, at IDOC…crickets. I’m fed up!
