Are in state admissions really that easy?

So I'm a high school junior right now, and I've always kind of held state in a high regard, but as college applications loom next year everyone's talking about schools they're applying to, and for all my friends, State seems to be their safety school. I know state is the third tier in comparison to Duke/UNC in the triangle, but is it really that easy to get into? Heres all my "credentials" so you know what kind of students i'm talking about

Junior in a class of 323, public high school in North Carolina
ranked 9/323 (top 3%)
UW GPA: 3.88, W GPA: 4.67
SAT: 1570, 1250 w/o writing, ACT 23 composite (I know, they're low, those are my first time scores, I intend on retaking the SAT twice, probably won't retake the ACT)
1 "B" in 5 semesters of high school, all A's otherwise
Completed 3 AP classes, currently enrolled in 1 - passed APUS Gov w/ a 4

Senior schedule to include 2 years of German, and 3 or 4 more AP classes

Extracurricular:
I work a job at a grocery store about 20 hours a week (time consuming!)
I am a member of our schools soccer team for all of my 3 years, first two on JV, varsity this past year
JV Captain of soccer sophomore year
National Science Honors society member
Student advisory committee member
(probably) National Honors Society member
Volunteer experience this past summer working at soccer camps ~ 40 hours total

I would say you have a good chance of admission to NCSU depending upon which major you apply to. I would not say it’s easy.

Some h.s. students, especially those who have yet to apply do a lot of brash talking about where they will go before they have actually researched what it takes to be admitted to said schools (both academically and financially). Don’t put too much stock in what a group of sixteen and seventeen year olds say. Do some research and find the school that is the best fit for you. After h.s you’ll likely never see those kids again. Don’t let their bold predictions (which may or may not come true) affect your decisions.

They definitely won’t affect what my decisions are, I was just curious. I’m still applying to UNC-A as my “safety school”, not a major public research institute like State is.

Your SATs may be a little low for State… Depending on the major. Admissions may question your grades relative to your SATs… I would keep taking the Sat…
