I noticed my orientation advisor didn't assign me any labs to go with my Orgo (321) and Bio (325) classes...I have the Orgo recitation but not the lab and no bio lab either. I am guessing we take them next semester, in the spring? BTW, I don't know why she signed me up for Bio 325 now that I am looking at it, it says in the catalog that you can take Bio 202 in the Fall as a sophomore. I took intro Bio and Chem with their labs in my first year at my previous college (I am a transfer).

I am on a 55 seat wait list in my Orgo Lect class, is it likely I will make it out?

Last question, who can I talk with on the phone at SBU if I need help with my class schedule?

Orgo lab is a separate class, CHE 326, which you can take at any point from the semester you're taking 321 on. It's a 2 credit class, so it's basically both semesters of orgo lab rolled into one, but it's got its own lecture and exams and you get a totally separate class grade for it. On the plus side, it means you can be more flexible about scheduling orgo lab for a semester when you've got the most time for it; if you think this fall is the best time for you to take it, I would say go for it.

If you got an orgo recitation but not a lecture, my guess is you have a good shot at them opening up more spaces in the lecture to accomodate the waiting list. Best of luck!

BIO 325 has 202 as a prereq; is it possible the transfer office decided your intro bio credit counts for 202? Check your degree progress report on SOLAR and see exactly what your previous school's classes counted for. If you still have parts of the intro sequence to get out of the way you might want to do those before starting with upper div stuff, but it's really up to you. Upper division bio labs are usually their own 3 credit courses, but many of them may correspond with upper div lecture classes. Those are pretty much the same situation I described with orgo lab: the lecture is a pre or co-req for the lab, but you don't have to take the lab the same semester as the lecture.

Assuming you're a bio major, the best source of advising would be an appointment with the bio undergrad office. Do you know what track you're doing yet?
