im def taking the sat II math IIC since im in precalc/trig right now (anyone know when those are offered?)

however, since im in the class of 06, i believe i only need to take two subject tests as opposed to the three that class of 05 had to take

im torn between sat II french (im in french 3 now), or korean...and should i take them with or without listening?

im torn because these language tests are only offered in november (according to collegeboard) and i dont want to take a gamble on getting a bad score and having to send that in to colleges (since nov is so close to app time). im also torn because i am korean, and even though college board says that all language scores are looked at the same whether u learned the language at home, or in a classroom...but my name (last name: kim) is soooo korean and i dont want admissions ppl to think i took the easy way out.

what do i do?

im def not taking a science test because i suck at that. i hate history, so ex out us history. i was considering literature, but i tried the sample questions and they are so hard! how the hell do u prep for that???

Why dont you take the Korean test and another one too? I wouldnt advise French since youre only in three and the tests are pretty intense, unless you know you can do better on that one than on any other.

There is more involved in taking the test than just being able to speak the language, so I don't think it's going to go against you if you take the Korean test. In fact, because the people taking that are pretty much all Koreans, there isn't much of a curve, so you have to do pretty well to get a good score.

And French is going to be too difficult to take as an SAT II (unless you're already fluent in it at this point).

As far as other SAT IIs, the easiest thing to do is take the same subject as any AP class you're taking. If you're not taking any AP classes, then pick an Honors or Regular class for which a Subject Test is offered, buy an SAT II prep book, and focus on studying that until you plan to take the test.

I am currently in German IV and took the SAT II with listening earlier this year. I managed to earn a 700 (I think I just made some REALLY lucky guesses -- the president of the German Honor Society at my school scored in the 500's and the only other student to take it was somewhere in the 400's).

My friend (in French IV) took French with listening the same day. He won't tell me his score.

I strongly recommend not even trying an SAT II language test (with listening, anyway) unless you're very, very strong with the language. I can only assume it's similar without listening.

My AP Span teacher said the SAT 2 w/o listening is easier than the AP test...can't tell you how hard the AP test is though, haven't taken it yet. The prep work we're doing for it is crazy though :-/

I noticed that the SAT II Latin was supposedly not offered in December, but it was in the test book anyways when I went to take the Math IIC. I don't believe the other languages were there though. I also think a lot of colleges still require three - MIT I know wants one math, one science, one "in any area of your choosing."
