Are Macs okay for Finance Majors?

Are any finance majors mac users?
I am about to buy a new laptop but I'm wondering if the mac will be okay for finance classes in which I'll need a laptop next semester (ms excel, financial modeling, etc.)

My roommate (finance) has a Mac. He dual-boots Vista on it and still has problems running programs. Vista on a Mac is much buggier than my PC laptop with Vista ever was and mine cost half as much as his. I know a finance/electrical engineer who has a Mac and just goes to a computer lab to do all of his work because it’s less trouble.

Bottom line: if you MUST buy everything that is shiny and made by Apple, blow a bunch of money on a Mac and be prepared to either go through the hassle of dual booting Windows or going to a computer lab for certain assignments. If you can think independently from Steve Jobs and your sorority sisters who just love to accessorize their Macbooks with colorful cases and stickers, save yourself some dough. A PC laptop costs literally 50 or 60% what a similarly equipped Macbook would. Though I do not advise you to get an HP, because I’ve noticed they have some quality issues.
