are MACs worth the money?

I’ll be a freshman education major! I need to know what computer to buy

I think MacBooks (especially MacBook Airs) are really good computers and aren’t TOO prohibitively expensive. I bought mine from Apple with a 200 dollar off coupon so it was around 900. I also purchased it from New Hampshire so there was no sales tax.

I’d say yes they are worth the money, but they are not the end all and be all of computers either.

Personally, I find the Macbooks uncomfortable for doing thinks like typing papers, the keyboard has a sharp metal edge that can dig in. On the other hand, I LOVE my MacPro desktop.

It’s really a matter of personal preference.

They are the best overall, not the best value. If you can afford it and don’t specifically need Windows for anything, Mac’s OS is in general more favored for its usability. They will also last a good while. A student in my dorm has a mac from 2-3 generations back that is still running well. I expect to have my Mac for my college duration, replacing it around the end of college. From my experience, Windows computers slow down and break down much faster. I used windows all my life until college, though I used Mac with my high school’s computers. I know both OS’s very well and strongly prefer Mac.

Basically, if you can afford it, prefer the OS, and don’t plan to game intensely or run CAD etc, just go Mac.

You may want to wait and purchase one through your student bookstore. The bookstores have the mass discounts from Apple.

Macs have been in this house forever. Love them! As an education major, you won’t need too many other programs, so a Mac will be fine.
