The big question: can I get away with using a #2 mechanical pencil on the SAT?
Or MUST I ABSOLUTELY use regular pencils?

My test is in 2 days, so any answers are greatly appreciated!

I’m pretty sure you can only use regular #2 pencils, which are easier to use in my opinion. What makes you want to use a mechanical pencil more than a regular pencil?

EDIT: I found this on the website when they tell you what to bring:

“Two No. 2 pencils and a good eraser; no pens or mechanical pencils”

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

No mechanical pencils. See [thread=1007468]this thread[/thread].

However, you could probably use those mechanical pencils that look like pencils without any issues.

So, I suppose the real answer is: in principle, no mechanical pencils. In practice, probably OK depending on the kind of mechanical pencil.

I really really want to use one!!
I’m taking it in Australia, so does that make a difference?

My son accidentally brought a #2.5 pencil to his first SAT. The proctor noticed, reported him, and the ETS sent him a “we’ll let you slide this time, but don’t do it again” nastygram.

Really.

So, there ARE pencil cops at the SAT.

I used a #4 pencil :S

lol you misspelled “mechanical” >.<
