Are missing and not received the same?

I just checked my eli account for the first time in a while, and I noticed that one of my teacher recommendations was listed as "not received." My (paper) recs were sent in a long time ago, and all my other colleges have gotten them.

The instructions say to resend "only the material that is actually listed above as missing." Is there a difference between missing and not received? Maybe "not received" means my recs could be among files yet to be processed, and "missing" means that they have processed all files and confirmed that they don't have my recs?

Or maybe I'm just overthinking this and they are the same.

Thanks for the help if anyone knows.

Pretty sure they’re the same. Its possible that the recs are under a bunch of other papers or lost, but by this time, Yale should have everything, if not almost everything, that has been sent to them all sorted out.

So I’d recommend asking your teacher to resend his/her rec.

Not received means that they don’t have them. They’re missing.

I second asking your teacher to resend- by fax. Get the number for him/her to make it easier.

did your regional representative send you an email to notice you of the missing papers??
