Are my Chances applying from out of state lower or higher?

I live in California and just wondering if my chances are higher or lower applying to University of Michigan at Ann Arbor? Or are they not affected?

It goes both ways. They prefer in state because they pay taxes, but on the other hand, they get more $$$$$$$$$ from OOSers.

In general UMich Ann Arbor’s OOS applicants face stiffer competition because their pool is larger given the allotted spots for them. The in-staters get the largest portion of slots and it seems (to me) that the admit rate is higher than OOS.

But the acceptance rate for those who don’t submit an app hovers near 0.0 percent each year. LOL

Go ahead and apply. Ann Arbor is beautiful!

I’m in state. It is definitely easier to be accepted if you are in state rather than out of state. But I would support T26E4 in saying that you should go ahead and apply anyway. If you’re willing to pay the price why not give it a shot?
