Hey all I am a sophomore now and I go to a very competitive school in Irvine. Well this year I screwed up back and I didn't accomplish my goals :(

my grades:
1st semester
tech - A
AP European History - B-
Biology - B
Spanish 1 - A+
Geometry - B+

2nd semester
Honors British Lit - B
Spanish 2 - A+
AP European History - B+ (89.4 - almost had that A! :()
Biology - B+ (89.9 - teacher wouldn't round up grr again!)
Boys Team Volleyball - A

My overall weighted GPA for this year is 3.57...

I want to get into berkeley/Carnegie Mellon/UCLA in the computer science field, is that still possible?

Next year (junior) i am taking:
AP English Language & Composition
AP US History
AP Art History
Honors Algebra2/trig
Spanish 3
Chemistry
Advanced Web design

Assuming:
-sophomore: volleyball grade not counted
-junior: "advanced web design" not counted
-junior: will have 6 semesters of academic classic
-junior: straight A's
-added a maximum 8 extra points for honors/AP

...your UC GPA should be around 4.09.

If you score 2050+ on SAT1 and 2x 750+ on SAT2, you will have a shot at UCB & UCLA and easily be a match for CMU. Good luck!

Is this Uni? (Or Northwood, tho I'm less familiar with them...they take less from Woodbridge - maybe top 30, and dunno about Irvine)

If so, UCLA/UCB take maybe the top 70ish people. If you're in that group, you should be OK. ECs matter less for UCB, more for UCLA, and I know someone with similar stats (atrocious sophomore year, but had an upward trend for junior + senior year) going to UCLA engineering next year (impacted major, harder to get in) from Uni. Straight As and top SATs don't matter that much because the schools are pretty well regarded...
