I've never taken any challenging courses in school so far, I'm a rising junior. I've only taken the average classes like english 10, global 10, etc. The most challenging one would be Latin I took it for two years. My new school I moved to didn't have Latin as an option, so I couldn't continue.

Quite a few times, I've noticed people talking about taking harder courses in order to get into their "dream college" Well mines Syracuse and I'm worried with just having taken average classes I will not be getting in.

The extra curriculars I have so far are:

Drama Club
Key Club
Paws Club
Muslim Club
Basketball
Lacrosse
Tennis this upcoming fall
And I'm starting my own key club at my new school this year.

A private school is hard to get into, but with your extra curriculars, you’ll have a better chance. Starting key club is HUGE especially talented. I’m a rising junior having only taken average classes, but I’m starting small this year. Senior year is a good time to take a couple non average classes too. Just work to your potential. One teacher said if 2 GPAs are the same, they’ll take the one with the better courseload. But if you get a C in honors/AP instead of an A/B then your GPA is the lower one. Don’t stress, you’re doing good

So I’ll still have a chance for Syracuse? But if I just do arts and science for syracuse does it have to stay that way? I’m not sure if this means anything but i live in syracuse do they like keeping it local? I’ll have to schedule a interview?

Not sure what you mean by “does it have to stay that way” but I’m assuming you are asking if you can transfer into another SU school after you get there…there are quite a few threads about transferring into Newhouse elsewhere on CC…

Yes, you should schedule an interview…and yes, they do like to “keep it local” but they have also been making a big push for geographic diversity…

oh that’s great! I hope they like that fact that I play sports too, I hear they like the athletic kids. All the people I know that go there are student athletes.
