Well, I want to write my main essay on my passion and love of my life: Soccer. The only problem with that is that for the EC essay I want to discuss track.
I only have a few major ECs which are basically Track and Soccer . I might run track in college(depending on which school I go to), but I do not want to write my main essay on it.

Would writing both my essays on sports be a bad thing?

I am not applying to top schools, so don't even worry about that.

just me, but i think ur EC essay should be about ur passion for soccer and ur main essay should be on something that reveals something else about u to the adcoms. after all , that's ur opportunity to stand out! good luck! :D

Here's the problem: If you say your most important EC is track, then why are you writing your essay about soccer?

That said, you can write about the same thing for both. BUT your personal statement has to be about you, not just about soccer. What do your experiences playing soccer reveal to the reader about you? Why do you love soccer? Etc.

If the essay doesn't do that, then it doesn't matter if you're being inconsistent. You're already being ineffective.

Yeah, I'm with ses on this. Either track or soccer is more important to you. Whichever one is should be in your extracurricular essay. And since that's mentioned in your EC essay, I would write your regular 500 word essay on something non EC related. I mean, they will hear about soccer/track in the short essay, and then about the other in your EC list. Give them something else about you to know. You are more than just your sports. Show them that.

I agree with whirlybird, maybe you should write your main essay about how your life changed because of soccer...and in what ways. Try not to focus too much on soccer though for your ec essay write about track.

Thanks, thats what I was leaning towards. It is going to start off on soccer and then show how it changed my life. The emphasis won't be on the sport itself, like the track(shorter essay) will be.
