At the college fair last year, the Harvard graduate was very good. She stated how having Havard on her bio opened doors to being published. She has changed careers 3 times.

She said what Harvard is looking for is PASSION. If you are just wanting to go to Harvard, then you won’t get in. If you have a passion for something or a subject and Harvard will assist you toward that passion, then you have a chance.

She made me wish they offered a bachelor of music.

They do, but it isn’t a BFA. [Music Handbook for Students 2012-2013](<a href=“HarvardKey - Harvard University Authentication Service”>HarvardKey - Harvard University Authentication Service) If you are looking for a performance oriented degree they do have a joint program with the New England Conservatory: [Harvard Department of Music](http://www.music.fas.harvard.edu/mmperformance.html)

How did you go so far off track?

I go for what you want but just doing the best you can is good. And have fun doing it too.

Also, find out who you are. You are a walking contradiction right now. I sense an inner confusion. Your grades were horrible (by Harvard standards) yet you dream of going to Harvard. It feels like you’re not being honest to yourself or you are grossly letting yourself down. It’s also not clear if Harvard is the right school for you.

You really ought to talk to your parents. The kind of pressure you are planning to put on yourself for one elusive goal is unreasonable, and you are likely to be disappointed. Not only that, it comes across as insincere, and colleges can usually see that. You need to ask yourself why you are so obsessed with Harvard, then go through a “so what?” exercise to look at how the rest of your life might turn out if you don’t get in…because you probably won’t. Kids with perfect grades and high scores are rejected all the time. Sorry to be harsh.
