Yeah, other than that I do nothing. I was gonna sign up for this program where you're an intern for a NYC congressman... that or get a job at a restaurant or a the NY Hall of science. Granted those go through, does it still look weak on an application? I'm a junior right now. What could I do to improve?

The 350 hours of community service look good, otherwise your EC's are pretty ordinary.

what's the program to intern with a congressmen, I live in NYC and would love to do that. Your Extracuricular activites aren't weak but aren't strong. The 350 hours of community service looks really good though.

Well I can tell you your ECs are way better than mine.
Just keep doing community service, that's all I can say.

I've always heard that being super involved in a couple ECs is better than being scattered all over the place.
I wish I had 350 hrs of Community Serive. I have maybe 75

I have 6 :( I am doing a lot this year though.

No, your ECs aren't weak, especially if you dedicate a lot of time to the school magazine. The "inappropriate misconduct" part could be a problem though.

does community service really matter? I mean, wouldnt colleges like it more if you spent those 350 hours doing something like, say a company?

Yours don't look bad at all, especially the 350 hours of community service.

Here are mine, not sure if they are good, but I'm only in 10th grade.

i want to major in english or political science &&be a journalist.

"most likely will be teen correspondent for city-wide newspaper."

best looking EC out of all of them. Unless you are very involved in your other ECs, they are not very special. If you do a lot with Lterary mag, or MUN, etc. your ECs will be good enough for most colleges

Please listen to me:

ECs are basically worthless to college admissions unless you contribute in a significant way. I think it's far better to devote yourself to one or two activities that you love.

Work at chess, but still, don't do it if it's something you're not interested in! Also, if your school does not have a basketball team, that's not really your fault. If you really wanted to, maybe you could organize a club team or something?

Greendayfan-

I can't really tell you since I don't know your talent at each of those individual activities. All those ECs look respectable and pretty substantial, but if you're only half-way committed to them, it's not worth it.

im never half-way committed to anything i do, but i've only just started lit mag and amnesty so i havent had time yet to do anything important. im a sophomore.
