Are my grades kind of mediocre?

:( My friends all have straight A's. The lowest grades they've ever gotten are A-'s. I'm kind of ashamed to show my grades to them.
I didn't really start caring about school until 8th grade. :( By then, it was too late. I was long since royally screwed over by the math benchmark test we had in 5th grade.

9th Grade
Orchestra, A, A
Algebra 1-2 A-, A- (I know. Really bad grade for such an easy class. :( I had a lot of missing work and was incredibly lazy)

Stop fishing for compliments.

I’m not fishing for compliments.
I got a B in Algebra 3-4. That’s awful.
I got a bunch of A-'s in Algebra 1-2 as well.
I see usually nothing much lower than 3.9 or 4.0.
With these grades, I can’t have a GPA higher than a 3.88 or a 3.93. Can’t remember which.

Please give me an honest answer! I know doing badly in math, especially here is kind of looked down upon.

if this is your definition of mediocre, you desperately need to be exposed to the real world

if you are graduated already, who gives a care?

no A+s…mediocre

Then why didn’t you just talk about the “bad” grades you got rather than sharing all the other ones plus the AP scores which are clearly not mediocre?

“I can’t have a GPA higher than a 3.88 or a 3.93”

A 3.9! How awful!

Just stahp.

I just wanted to know whether or not you considered these poor grades…
My friends think they are “okay”.

“I didn’t really start caring about school until 8th grade. By then, it was too late. I was long since royally screwed over by the math benchmark test we had in 5th grade.”
Are you implying you should have cared about school in 5th grade? In fifth grade, all my friends and I did was play Super Smash Bros and have Nerf Gun wars.

Well.
Anything less than a 4.0 is an automatic rejection connection.

kidding

What schools are ya lookin’ at? Your grades are kays.

Well, yeah…A lot of my friends did.
All I did was play Pokemon and stuff like that.
I didn’t pay attention in class at ALL though! :frowning: And I got really far behind. My friends ended up being 2-4 years ahead in math in 6th grade and I bombed the benchmark test, so I got put in regular math.

Please- I agree with others posters. You are looking for praise when you have already done extremely well. College admissions is not about GPA alone. You’ve listed no EC’s, test scores, etc. As long as all the per pieces of the puzzle fit, you will be OK.

I am not looking for praise! I don’t know how to tell you this.
I was honestly expecting chastisement or “Well, with those grades you can only go to a state university”.
How significantly does GPA affect college admissions?

It’s probably the biggest factor, but there’s really no important difference between a 3.9 and a 4.0.
Some state universities are better than a lot of private colleges anyway.

I think I know how you feel. I used to FREAK OUT over A minuses. I wasn’t trying to get compliments, I was genuinely terrified.
Then I realized how pathetic I was. LOL Even now I worry if I’m “good enough.” So it’s okay.
Your main focus should be to work hard. Do your best and forget the rest. Don’t like a grade? Change it! Bemoaning it won’t make it go away. If you feel a grade wasn’t your best work but it’s too late to change it, don’t worry about it. Chalk it up to experience and move forward (don’t get any more of those grades that fall below your standards, though). Your grades are fine. No one is perfect.
^▁^

A ‘B’ in Alg 3-4 and no Calc BC. Your friends are correct. Just Okay.

Are you freakin serious? T_T

Have a nice day

@goodgig
Yeah, that’s kind of how I feel. I hate myself for these grades. I’m so ashamed and feel ridiculously stupid for being so lazy that year.
Calculus BC, however, isn’t available in my school. Believe me, I would have found a way to take it if it was there…
I was thinking about self studying the test along with a few other APs, but I didn’t have the time.

I was being facetious………….just relax! Some people around you may be telling you that just to make themselves feel better. As you should know, most students in HS act like they are in HS (or MS for that matter). BTW - You should change your user id to MellowSunsets.

mfw this site and you people

too bad i can’t post gifs.
