Are my SAT scores good enough?

<p>hey!
i took my SATs in May 2010 and got a 560 in CR , 710 in the writing and 680 in the math. I am considering many of the UCs, The Claremont colleges, UTD and might try my hand at a couple of the Ivies! But are my scores good enough? What are my chances of getting a full aid in any of these colleges? </p>

<p>My school scores are pretty good...most of the time, i'm in the top 5 in class. Elected to the student council twice and i've been dancing for the last 11 years of my life. Will any of these prove to be an advantage?<br>
I probably want to major in Mathematics or Biology and will be getting into college in Aug 2011. I plan to take my SAT 2 in September/October this year and i have a toefl score of 105.
what really are my chances? </p>

<p>For the Ivies, you’re definitely going to have to pick up your score. Generally on the new SAT, an Ivy-worthy score is something 2500+. Many of the UCs (aside from maybe Berkeley) could be matches. However, if you’re not a California citizen, you most likely won’t get aid. For Claremonts and UTD, you have a decent chance, but again, getting aid would be difficult.</p>

<p>If you’re looking for aid, aim for some private schools of a bit lower status.</p>

<p>You’re going to want around a 2250.</p>

what are u talking bout… a perfect SAT score is 2400
im sure you meant 2200 or 2300</p>

<p>Yeah, a score of 2500 doesn’t exist on the SAT, much less 2500+. The highest score is 2400.</p>

<p>I agree with the others above: an average Ivy-bound score is about 2200-2300, but kids do get in with scores around 2000-2200, or even lower (though not often). It really depends on the other components of your application.</p>

<p>For UC’s, your UC GPA will be really important. If it’s 3.8 or better, your numbers should be okay at UCD, UCSB, UCI, and “below”. Not sure about UCSD, but they have a pretty transparent “point system”.</p>

<p>The Claremonts vary ALOT. Harvey Mudd and Pomona’s numbers are not like Pitzers.
