Are my scores unusual? (on practice tests)

for some reason my writing is WAY higher than my reading and math

on practice tests i get around

500 math
460 reading
750+ writing (i have gotten 800 before...meaning all MC questions right)

is this unusual??? I really want to improve reading....and I'm taking the January SAT. I want my reading in the 700s!

Hmm, I think you may have trouble with reading and understanding the passages in the given time. Time yourself, and keep trying! I had trouble at first, but in the end I obtained decent scores. Keep it up, and good luck.

My friend got a 1050/1600, but a 710 on the Writing on an actual SAT. He is an awesome writer and got an 11 on the essay. Although your scores are a bit unusual, they are nothing that hasn't been seen.

not so unusual.i was running like 990 on my practice tests(cr and m) but got a 1350 on my sats.then again i am somewhat of a superman.

how are you grading your practice essays?
I have great MC scores for the writing (and I had a 78 PSAT), but my essays always end up really low...

it also depends on whether you are a native speaker. I have seen internationals getiin higer writing scores in writing than in readin.

i'm a native speaker of english...and i don't grade my practice essays, i'm talkin bout the multiple choice questions, TheVeganActress. But at a SAT prep course they've given me 10's..

anyway, do you guys actually read every single bit of all the passages? or skim?

Meh! You sound like me! I've had problems with the reading myself. Do you fall behind because of the passages? I was a horrible time manager before. I kept reading the passages instead of skimming. In my opinion, I'd recommend skimming because you don't want to fall behind. If you skim the passage first, you will have more time to look back at the passage when choosing your answers.
