What do Plebes do for fun...is there any slack in their schedule? Also, can someone explain "Reorgy" week? Thanks

haha is there any fun just type in west point in youtube you will finnd some funny pranks. " the naked man '!

That was one of my concerns, but I have since learned that my cadet and her classmates have managed to either find fun or creative their own.

Read this: Spirit mission at West Point
Cadets' secret mission: Dressed for success - RecordOnline.com - The Times Herald Record

There are also tales of such things as snowboarding/skiing, laundry cart races, mattress surfing down stairwells and quite a few other "interesting" escapades.

Re-orgy week is when the cadets get settled into their barracks and get ready for their classes (buy books, etc.). For the new cadets fresh out of Beast, it's when they no longer outnumber the cadre, because the upperclassmen have returned to WP. The upperclassmen then take the opportunity to "concentrate" on the new cadets. The extra attention usually diminishes once classes start.

Reorgy week is when you return to the barracks after march back and start getting all your issued items for class like your books and laptop.

You'll also get hazed more during Reorgy week than you will during all of Beast, and don't expect to get laundry delivered for at least a week.

This year Reorgy (Reorganization) Week will be only a few days long due to extended summer training.

it's awful losing your personality for an entire year, for out of class plebes are essentially walking zombies. Think of the movie Invasion. My friends and I usually go see a movie or go exploring (west point is creepy after dark.) During the winter skiing/snowboarding is cheap and close, as well as bowling. I think the main problem is transportation, even though there are shuttles on post they usually run until 4 on the weekends, and walking places takes time. The bowling ally is close (maybe a 5 min shuttle ride) but a 30 min walk. Issued a life? Nope. I for one constantly countdown the days to leave when I can wear colored clothing, let down my hair and walk around with my hands in my pockets. but it's worth it.

i've had a great plebe year

if you join the right clubs, you can leave quite a bit.

between trip sections for two different clubs, 2 passes, and 1 spirit pass, I left west point 3 out of 5 weekends at least all year. even at west point there is a good amount of fun to be had if you look in the right places. and while it sometimes conflicts with the rules, there are a lot of people doing all the same things their civilian counterparts are doing on the weekends.

I am looking forward to more freedom next year, but plebe year can be a lot of fun if you approach it right.
