I guess I don’t understand the concern either about the gym. There seem to be other options for students there beyond this one gym. I think it’s great that wealthy alumni give to their public schools. Their donations are important, even more so with cutbacks in state funding . I am in Virginia and am thankful that donors step up to fund important projects . UVA had their basketball arena funded, Virginia Tech got their newer engineering building funded in large part by a generous , thankful, alumni donor. If someone gives millions of dollars to help out a public college, I think that is great. It helps to raise the profile of the school in general and can encourage others to step up. And that can help current and future students , both instate and out of state.
