Note the word generally in the title before making a don't-judge-an-entire-group-of-people comment!

I mean is it generally easy to make new friends there, in the dorms and stuff is everyone usually just lax and you know, do people often just hang out with no drama?

I know Penn is the "social" ivy... but I know nothing besides that =P

Yeah, I'd say so. Freshmen are particularly friendly, especially during NSO and the first semester.

You do see cliques as time goes on. Greek life and some of the clubs (south-asian society and some of the asian religious groups) develop and produce drama, but I think you find this pretty much anywhere. There are also some wealthy people here who keep to themselves - but their numbers are small and not something to worry about.

What I find wonderful about the school is the friendly intellectualism. It may not be easy to just "talk" to someone, but if you talk to a random classmate after a lecture, or discuss some academic topic with someone, most students open up and are friendly. Penn students, on the whole, are kind of geeky and may take a little time to be social.

Haha, that sorta makes me feel outta place, the "intellectualism" bit. I mean I am smart and am one for smart conversations now and again, but usually I'm a goofball... I guess I know the school weirdo will be!

If I go to Penn I will up its friendly factor! If I could make those icy Asian introverts (in Calc) open up and smile a little, that has to mean something.

The penn student ( scientifically know as the pennhomus) is a somewhat rare specimen...Although they do tend to travel in large groups the alpha male clearly decides the direction of all social actions. More about this interesting animal after I finish watching a couple of family guys episodes..

yeah.. I'm mad bored...can't wait to get to penn and have something to do
