Are people getting stupider?

i go to a magnet school and most people are just hard working. <5% are gifted.

@KappaTau, nobody, I repeat NOBODY likes grammar Nazis. Just go show off your immense grammar knowledge elsewhere.

^Because using a word that doesn’t exist in the English language is a grammar rule. This topic answers itself

I like grammar Nazis. I think they’re funny. Looks like you’re wrong, mate.

I’ll edit my question. The people who go to my high school are slackers. This causes them to not retain as much information as other leading to the impression of a lower intellect. This impression is derived from low test scores on material others would consider easy. There are these types of people in every school but they seem to be at the very least a plurality at my school if not a majority. Do you experience this at your school?

And @ angry bob I’m talking about permanent mcdonalds workers for life

I would say that happens more because of socioeconomic factors than stupidity. Some of them are older and grew up in a time when going to college was less common, or they couldn’t afford it or their family didn’t encourage it (this is why my mother didn’t go in the '70s). I work at McDonald’s, and the lifers there aren’t really any stupider than most of the college-educated people I know. They’re just less educated and probably have fewer marketable skills.
And just because you get a college degree doesn’t mean you’ll be exempt from working at a menial job. I dislike the general sense of entitlement on this website.

Mehhh… I use the word “ratchet” quite liberally, and my SAT score was one of the best in my graduating class… What are you insinuating?

I also mean “ratchet”.
Someone likes to generalize…

Well, I for one am stupid. Does that get in anyone’s way? Not for anyone but the haters.

No one but the haters.

I’m talking about the practice of calling literally anything ratchet.

ratchet is a normal part of my vocabulary
I’m missing your point

This is a ratchet *** post.

Seriously though, you people bashing his/her opinions, shut up. You clearly don’t understand.

I live in the Rio Grande Valley. The average SAT score at my school is below 1300. (CR+M+W)

A is for attendance. I understand you and your post. Don’t worry. People aren’t getting stupider. You are just in a bad place like me.

Oh and to anyone who is offended, no mayo on my burger please.

You’re right, I closely don’t understand how it feels to be an elitist and think that I’m above everyone else at my school, so much so that I’d classify everyone as ghetto.and I scope through their tests/quizzes so that I can confirm my suspicions.Get over it.

Dude you clearly don’t understand. Seeing 2 people arrested for drugs on what feels like a daily basis. Being searched by a K-9 unit on a biweekly schedule for drugs. Walking down the hallways hearing disgusting slang and witnessing stupid fights. School is a joke. My graduating class lost 300 people to drop outs.

Trust me, I’m not exaggerating. The only reason I’m not scared of gangs like everyone else is because I’m 6’ 3", way taller than the average cholo down in the valley. I don’t take their crap and they understand that, so they leave me alone.

But you can only see so many pregnant underclassmen before you lose hope.

I see Complik and originalguy and the fact that you all are trying to rise above the standard. But insulting your student body and calling them all incompetent shows spite. It isn’t a trait in someone that says “I’m better than this situation” it’s a trait that says “I’m better than these ghetto kids” and that’s something I don’t agree with.

Well yes, but…
IT’S NOT JUST THE KIDS! IT’S EVERYWHERE! LIKE INTELLIGENCE SUCKING ZOMBIES! MEN WOMEN, CHILDREN AND PETS! AT EVERY STORE, SCHOOL, SERVICE BUILDING, AND STREET! IN EVERY ROOM OF EVERY HOUSE AND OF EVERY CAR ON EVERY STREET! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP :(

EXACTLY COMPLIK. You know what I’m talking about.

Yes, but the things you complain about have pretty much always existed in one form or another. (The mindset, at least.)

What if you just have average intelligence because everyone dumber than you has below average intelligence?
