are perfect grades enough? [does being pretty help?]

i get the best grades and take all the honors classes i can, but i haven't taken a foreign language yet.... AND I'M A JUNIOR!!!

do i have to take a foreign language in order to get into a good school, even if i don't plan on majoring in anything that has to do with a foreign language?

i'm thinking creative writing//journalism...
will i sink or swim?

please, tell me! i am so very lost!!!
and i'm aiming high [princeton, columbia, cambridge, harvard, stanford, you know...]

and do looks help?
if i smchooze an admissions officer, does that help at all? :]]]

Usually a lot of schools require 2, if not 3 years of a foreign language no matter what major you intend to pursue.

Are you serious about the latter part?

The top schools recommend 2 to 3 years of foreign language. Many strong applicants take 4 years.
Maybe looks can help... :)

you are screwed for all the colleges you want to go to you must!!!!! have 4 years of a foreign language.

yeah right shes probably an ugly fat chick in dire need of some attention

Well if your screenname is supposed to be French, then it's obvious you haven't taken any foreign languages yet. Lebelle is almost equivalent to calling yourself a pretty man, (pretty ironic given this thread topic) it should be LA belle.

^hehe.

OP, how has your school let you get through sophomore year without taking a foreign language?

LMAO.

Why haven't you taken a foreign language? To be competative you have to take four years.

UH. Get over yourself?

And if you're aiming for such prestigious colleges, how did you fail to take even a SINGLE foreign language?

well...
IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT I HAVEN'T TAKEN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.

new computer systems made my last 3 years messy.
right now i have 2 study halls.
CUS THERE IS NOTHING LEFT FOR ME TO TAKE.

and yeah. the screenname is actually a joke.
srry.

Hmmm, how about taking a foreign language?
I still don't understand why the school doesn't make you take one to graduate.

no i mean, the schedules are so full and so messed up... that there is no way for me to take what i need to. i've been trying since freshman year to take french I... so i have another question...

I AM TAKING FRENCH 101 at the community college near me.
i will be able to take one year this sem, for four credits.

if i take french II there over the summer, do i need to or should i take french III the first sem of my senior year? is that enough of a plan to make up for lack of the foreign language in high school as of right now?

You may be very owned since it is almost a prerequisite at many places.

Yea, You really need 4 years of language to even compete against the top students... go take courses during the year.

You should def get through French III. That's sort of the minimum at a lot of the top 20 schools.

I'd say talk to the admissions people at the schools you are applying to. It may be that, since you're taking the classes at a college rather than a hs, you'll only need 2 classes. It'll free up time (senior year) for you to take another college class that will help you better prepare for your major.

lol i have 9 yrs of language.
mad h4x

Maybe you could donate some to the OP- hook your brains up with jumper cables and squeeze lemon juice on them...

^Haha very creative Weasel. ;)

Erm... to the OP--do you even HAVE ECs or anything of the sort? If not I'd recommend taking a good look at reality. Look at the stats of the past students who have gotten accepted into those schools.
What about your scores and GPA?
