I have seen the ratemyprofessor site, but some schools have their own sites for this info. Anything at Pitt to evaluate profs or classes?

I wish, or I would be looking through that site right now. Although I sometimes do not trust ratemyproffesor, it all depends on whether they got a good grade or not.

Yeah, and people who post there are often those who are upset about their prof or grade and are looking for a place to complain.

Darn, I can't believe that Pitt doesn't have one of these things!

I have always been told that proffessors who expect the most out of their students are always the ones you appreciate AFTER you graduate. So it's really a matter of perspectives then!

BTW, are you going to be a freshman at Pitt? I'm going to be a freshman bioengineer.

Oops, no I'm a parent. Sorry for the confusion! The reason I asked is that my son had some good profs last year and some not so good ones. I wish he could avoid any really catastrophic choices! But my son is also in engineering, so maybe we could have our own class rating of sorts.

Actually, there is a ratemyprofessors.com for pitt, and let me tell you, its GREAT! I have found out the best teachers for a subject, the easiest, hardest, worst, etc.
It helps ALOT, and I totally recommend you use it. I look up all my professors before I sign up to take the class with them.

Yeah I have to agree with neelesh, though I would suggest reading a few of the comments. Sometimes professors will have a lower score than they actually deserve because i find more angry students go on then just so so students

yeah, the students seem really bitter there..

I think most of my professors seem highly rated with the exception of Katherine Wolfe for Econ 0100. Do you folks know about this one?

I LOVED ratemyprofessors.com. It really helps.

My daughter just started her second semester at Pitt.

Sites like Ratemyprofessors seem totally irrelevant to her course selection experience. Everything goes through her advisor, or later, the drop-add office. Her advisor signed her up for a section of a course that meets in another county! She's had much trouble getting classes she needs/wants. Her experience isn't totally unusual for a freshman,at any university. . . .

At this point, picking a class based on others' opinions of a prof seems like a dream!
