Ive seen both views expressed and I dont know which it is...are programs allowed on your calculator for the SAT I during the math section? From what I read here the answer seemed to be yes, but it came up in class today and kids said the proctors cleared calculator ram

I've taken the SAT a couple times and the only thing I've had to do was wave my calcuator.

Can I use a calculator?

Yes. Students can use a four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator. The College Board recommends that students use a calculator at least at the scientific level for the SAT, although it's still possible to solve every question without a calculator.

You won't even need whatever programs.

Any and all programs you can put on your calc are allowed.

You can have whatever you want on your calculator. 1) The proctors have other stuff to do than clear people's RAMs. 2) Even if they did clear people's RAMs, there's still the Archive memory - they'd have to delete that, too. 3) They have no right to go about and delete everything on your calculator. SO basically, whatever you ahve on your calculator can be used during the math portions.

If the proctors cleared the RAM for everyone, that would take a very long time. So I'm almost positive that programs are allowed. It is YOUR calculator after all. If they are going to let people use calculators, they are well aware of the fact that programs are going to be used. I think Progamer1234 has posted this really large all inclusive program on this site.

ok awesome...and to the first reply, i know you dont need a calculator blah blah blah, just good insurance to have and saves time for formulas etc

Well, they COULD make that a condition of taking the test. Then again, you should not worry about using programs on the tests. Simple functions should do the job for all the math tests.

positive that they won't clear your ram. even school math and science teachers don't care. in fact, my ap calc teacher actually urges us to program formulas into the calculator lol. and he goes it's not cheating...
