Basically what the title says. Are RD decisions already being released (other than for the AD campus)?

yes my friend got one. but u need amazing stats and theyll offer u schlorship interview

warrehui – do you mind sharing the date she received the decision?

I thought NYU doesn’t do online notifications, that means they must have mailed it sometime late feb. which is really early. I was expecting decisions to go out mid-late march or april…

I was hoping to be considered for the honors program. I applied regular decision and my stats are pretty high. I applied to CAS as a math major. If I haven’t gotten anything yet, does it mean I probably didn’t get into the honors program?

@GOODENOUGH

Colleges are unpredictable, so it’s best to just wait it out…
In the mean time, I’ll hyperventilate over the fact that decisions started going out.

Goodenough…From what I’ve seen on College Confidential…the past two years’ invitations for CAS honors students to attend an invitation weekend (about April 3 ish)…were being received March 8-March 17 ISH. Don’t worry yet. NYU has changed their admissions page to a March comment, and says they’re finalizing decisions, etc. It doesn’t mention any of their early letters that have been received over the past few years so we can’t yet know what their timeline is. Luck.

hyperventilates some more
:O

Yesterday in the mailbox there was a large envelope!!! I was excited for my S who is anxiously awaiting decisions from 5 schools. I pulled it out of the pile and turned it over. It was an auto insurance policy from Liberty Mutual. :(

Oh my…

I had a huge packet on my stairwell that my neighbors left for me, I was SO EXCITED, but it was just an informational packet from Full Sail University (didn’t even apply) :P.

Thanks so much R124687! Do you know what kind of stats you need to get into the honors program?

When my dd was offered a Presidential Scholar Invite last year it came March 10 or so FED EX. We had to sign for the envelope.

FYI - her stats were 2330 SAT, #3 rank in her class, 8 AP’s - all 5s - 98 average unweighted, plus the usual ec’s, leadership stuff, national writing award, National merit finalist, etc etc etc.

Come to think of it - it may have been called a DEAN’s Scholarship/Presidential Scholar Award

The names of the scholarships in CAS have changed, I think. I have heard a lot of people’s stats, they represent the top 5% ish applicants. The TOP scholarships ($25,000) have stellar stats (like kaceylee). It seems, just from reading CC, that only 3-5 years ago the stats were MUCH lower. So…who knows, we can only wait and see. I consider my own daughter to be on the edge of getting into honors as well…but probably NOT getting a scholarship (or…only a very tiny one…they give anything from $1000 to $25,000 for CAS honors…or did the past few years). And $1000 is NOT going to get her into NYU…not with my checkbook. So…April first it is. (because even if you get an honors invite…your financial aid offer/packet doesn’t come until 4/1). Luck to all.

My stats:

SAT: M 800 W 770 CR 740
SAT 2’s: Math II 800, US History 800, Bio M 790
GPA: 4.2
Class is too small to rank.
Most rigorous course possible.

Do you think I will get into honors program?

GOODENOUGH, not only do I think you’ll get into the honors program, I think you should try for IVY league schools like Yale, COlumbia, etc. Your stats are beyond excellent! Do you also have extracirricular activities?

I did apply to those schools. I applied to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn, Columbia, and MIT as well. But Admission at all those schools is a crapshoot, or so I am told. And I liked NYU, so it would be nice to know that I had a solid backup. NYU becomes really solid if I get into the honors program.

My extracurriculars are good. I’m editor of my newspaper, I run a tutoring service for inner-city kids, I’m president of the Youhng Philosopher’s society, and I had a very prestigious fellowship this past summer.

do any of u know when regular decisions will begin to be released for the rest of us? will they come out in waves?

Wow very impressive. I am willing to bet right now that you’ll at least get into Columbia. I have a friend whose credentials were a bit lower than yours and Columbia gave her a partial scholarship, which was very generous. DOn’t even worry about anything. YOu’re hard work paid off and you’ll be fine. GOOD LUCK! And I hope you get into HArvard!

Thank you so much! Good luck to you too!

If you go online it says they are finalizing everything and sending them by mail at the end of March. They plan to have them arrive around April 1st.
