Today at the Harvard info session, a parent asked the admissions officer exactly what the interviewer knows at the time of the interview about the candidate. And the answer was : Nothing. She explained that application information is confidential and is not released to the interviewer. I would think that a resume can only help in this situation. I know when I interview faculty candidates, I always read their CV first.</p>
<p>My son prepared a one page resume and gave it to the interviewer who used it as a kind of conversation starting point: "So, you like to . . ."
Since all of his interviews were on campus, presumably the resume went into his file along with the interviewer's notes.</p>
<p>He also wrote up a page of bullet point notes for himself as reminders of what to ask about, what to emphasize. He put it on a clipboard to avoid paper shuffling. This made him feel prepared and confident.</p>
