I'm currently attending a CC due to family problems in high school... I don't want to get into detail; and I was wondering if SATs matter when transferring to a universitiy or college. Is it weighted more for junior status or sophmore status? Do the universities such as UVA, William and Mary, UMD, NYU, UC Berkeley, and UCLA ever factor SAT scores when deciding on transfer admissions from community college?

I currently have a 3.83 GPA and plan to transfer next fall, much appreciated.

It depends on the school. Generally, if you are transferring as a Junior, the school will not factor in the SATs, or they will focus more on your college record.

Agree with both, that it depends on the school and whether you’re transferring as a jr or soph. However, I do think that for the more selective schools that require SATs, good standardized test scores can help to support a high gpa. In general, competition for grades will be tougher in 4 yr colleges than at CCs, so it is helpful to show strength in SAT scores as well. [Please no flames, my comment is not addressing individuals, but rather the strength of the cohorts as a whole; FWIW, I was a CCC tranfer to a UC]

For information on SAT requirements for those schools, go to the primary source, the college websites. If they ask for test scores, they are likely to use them to some degree.
