Are second thoughts normal?

I know most people are excited and starting to pack but with just a little over two weeks of summer left...i'm beginning to have second thoughts about whether I picked the right school or not and for the right reasons.

I'm thinking I might have decided on the college i'm going to for the wrong reasons and maybe I should have picked a different college from my other acceptances. It's weird though, because for the most part I was ecstatic knowing that I could attend but since the beginning of August i've been feeling really doubtful and unsure about where I was headed...not so much excited as sick.

Anyone else feeling like this? Maybe I should just forget about it all and go in head on without looking back with a grin.
I'm just curious to know how common this is or if I should really be concerned about my recent choices.

i’m more wondering why i didn’t apply to more matches/reaches, and wondering if i’d still have ended up in the same place had i done that.

but as far as the ones i chose from, i have 0 regrets. it’s exactly what i want in a college and none of the other ones had EVERYthing i wanted.

^That’s awesome karabee, i’m glad you found just the right place. I myself applied to alot of extra schools but in the end with or without the other acceptances it would have come down to the same 4 or 5 schools.

I ended up deciding to go to a school I thought I had absolutely no chance of getting into, so much so that I set my hopes on another school that while still great wasn’t as good and was ecstatic to get in there. Now I’m starting to wonder if I made this decision out of utter shock despite the fact that it really is an awesome school. So don’t worry, you’re not alone. I’m sure we’ll find out niches at our respective schools though :)

Yes, second thoughts are completely normal. And if you get halfway through the year and are still having second thoughts, then maybe it is time to transfer.

I hope it’s normal…I’ve been having crazy second thoughts too. I’m hoping i don’t regret my choice.

i got into my reach school and have never looked back. whenever i drive by the commuter school i was expecting, i am overwhelmed by happiness because i know i didn’t end up picking there.

that being said, this last week has been really weird. not second thoughts weird, but i’m much less excited than i was a month ago.

yeah, i’m been having a lot of second thoughts lately. what’s worse, i had to see my friends off to the OTHER college i could have attended. i’m really anxious for school to start so that i can focus on what’s in front of me rather than what could have been.

happens all the time, over all kinds of things. Buying a car, buying a house, choosing a college … Google “buyers remorse”

Worst possible scenario is that you do well at the college you dont like and you can transfer to the one you want or even one better if you’ve got the grades

Yes, I’m worried I picked a school that’s too intelligent than I am. Sometimes I wonder if I had picked the other school that offered me a huge scholarship, a spot in the honors program, and other benefits. Maybe I would stand out more instead of being just an average or below average student at the school I picked. Though I’m really excited for my school and feel motivated to work very hard.

I absolutely had second thoughts before I started at my college. It’s normal…it’s a huge step. But now I couldn’t be happier there.

Happens to everyone.
You are all in the same boat (all your first years)
Just enjoy it :)

You’ll never know unless someone invents a time machine. But consider this: if you had gone there, you wouldn’t have the top kids around you that you’re going to have. College is more than just the classes you take; in fact much of the important learning takes place outside the classroom. Every time you hear of an internship opportunity, a tip about how to best prepare for your future career, talk to someone about studying abroad, about getting some research experience, see examples of the kinds of jobs you can get after college that you might not have thought about – ask yourself if you would have learned about this at school B.

I have no regrets. If i had gone to my ‘dream school’ I would have been stuck in my major (was an art school) and wold be paying 30k+ in loans every year.
