Are Sixth GEs difficult? Anyone want to switch from Muir to Sixth?

I did not heavily weigh my choices for ranking the different colleges in UCSD. Sixth was my first, Muir was my second. To be honest, it's because I didn't at all expect to attend UCSD--I thought I would be moving to New York, but due to family reasons, I am to stay in California and very likely attend UCSD.

Now, I was accepted to UCSD as a Human Biology major at Sixth College. At first, I was petrified because I kept reading about its “bad reputation” and “Inferiority” to the remaining colleges at UCSD. However, I learned that most people’s reasoning for this involved the res halls and distance from other colleges or the distance from the beach. My solution? Walk or use a bike. That part doesn’t bug me.

What DOES concern me, however, are the many claims I am finding that Muir has the easiest GEs (excluding the apparently difficult writing class). Yet, I find nothing on Sixth College's GEs, or the CAT classes.

With that being said, my first question is:
Will I be okay attending a humanities-oriented school as a human biology (pre-med) major?

My second question:

How difficult are the classes exclusive to Sixth College?

I don’t want some kind of easy way out of college. In fact, I am grateful to have been accepted out of the pool of competitive students. Aside from the whole party scene (I am not one for that), I will give Sixth the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure it isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be regarding the structure of the college itself. The whole camp thing is actually pretty cute, lol.
I simply do not want my pre-med path to be hindered by a mere difference in my rank 1 college and my rank 2 college. So please, I ask for honest feedback. I welcome more insight on Sixth College’s housing and social life, but I ask that its GEs be weighed into your overall opinion. I don’t want to have to eliminate UCSD as a school to go to for any academic hindrances (which I doubt will be the case, but it doesn’t hurt to ask). Lastly, if anyone has advice on which professors to choose, I would be grateful.
I look forward to your responses, and I appreciate your time!
(Go camp snoopy! lol)

Oh and I forgot to mention that if anyone is willing to switch from Muir to Sixth (or got accepted into Muir and will not be attending UCSD), I read in a few forums that before the term starts, you can switch colleges with another student. If you are willing to help me with the switch, I will be forever grateful.

Not in Sixth but have heard many things and have many friends in Sixth

@eas4vr What APs have you fulfilled? Many people consider Sixth, Marshall, and Warren to have fair GEs depending on what AP classes have been done, and many of Sixth’s GE reqs are very easily fulfilled by AP classes.

Haha where did you hear that UCSD is a humanities-oriented school

The CAT classes at Sixth are also not considered extremely difficult and have interesting subjects most of the time. My friend had a prof who just liked talking about aliens lol.

Sixth is probably also considered one of the more homey/friendly colleges. It feels like a neighborhood, so if you live in Sixth, chances are you know LOTS of people from Sixth. It’s so weird walking into Sixth with my friend and everyone is just greeting her lol. If you think Camp Snoopy is cute it’s probably a plus for you too. Sixth apartments are also one of the more desirable apartments to live in, and a lot of freshmen end up living in the apartments at Sixth over the res halls. I don’t think there is really a party scene though?, just more of a friendly neighborhood atmosphere.

I think you are just placing too much value in the fact that people say that Muir is one of the easiest colleges. Sure, I can’t deny that, but a pre-med student at Revelle or Sixth or Warren or Marshall are just as likely to be successful in their pre-med track as a pre-med student at Muir. You aren’t going to be significantly hindered just because you’re in Sixth, and I have many successful pre-med friends in Sixth who can vouch for that.

Mayyyybe not ERC though lol.

@ucsdcompsci

Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it!

I've taken APUSH, AP European History, and AP Environmental Science (those are the ones that fulfill requirements, at least). I also have taken/ am taking the following IB exams: History of the Americas HL, Language Arts HL, Environmental Science SL, Spanish SL, Biology HL, and IB Math SL.

I apologize if I put false information regarding the focus of the college. T_T I am just reiterating what I saw on these forums from alumni/current students.
Admittedly, I also feel as though I am pondering everyone’s opinion on Muir being the best/ easiest college, but I cannot help it. The thought of jeopardizing my undergraduate studies over this decision (I get very anxious and paranoid no matter how ridiculous a scenario sounds) just made me feel on edge. I worried that my time would be more spent on these GEs than courses actually aligned with my major, but your feedback certainly put me more at ease, and for that I thank you.
