Are sleepovers no longer a thing?

I don’t like the crankiness the next day either. That’s probably why I never let my kids do sleepovers every weekend or two nights in a row. Or if we had something big the next day…

I don’t know how I would’ve felt about sleepovers on school nights. It never came up with either of my kids. I guess I’d be ok with it, if it was only one night. I certainly wouldn’t treat it like a sleepover on a weekend. The kids would have to go to bed at a reasonable hour and they’d still have to do homework, etc.

It was the quote about not trusting anyone else with the most valuable thing in her life that pushed it into the unbelievably annoying category for me. Do you know many parents who don’t think their children are “most valuable”? I personally don’t know any.
Obviously parents can make any decisions they want for their kids, but the words!

Oh we never did schoolnight sleepovers! Never would have occurred to me. Just on weekends or vacation time. I don’t see much point to a weeknight sleepover (unless it was necessary like someone had to go to the hospital or something)….seems the whole point involves staying up late and having fun, not really conducive to going to school in the morning

I think you have to do what is right for you, your family, and your level of comfort.

One of my D’s best friends was an immigrant and her parents would never allow sleepovers. But they finally folded and I felt so happy that we were chosen to host her first sleep over!
