Are some egos here sort of...inflated?

TRUFFLIEPUFF has the biggest ego of all. How do you walk through doors with that huge head of yours, do you have to have a special team of mechanics or something?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/925493-those-slow-people-your-classes-want-go-big-schools.html</a>
Sickening.

Bagels are seriously one of my favorite foods. I could eat one every morning.

As for the original topic, I can list four or five people on here that seemed so consumed in a ****ing contest that nobody cares about. It seems like every one of their posts just oozes with pretense.

You know what I say to myself, when i see people on here with inflated egos based off of their academic achievements, and ability to get into college?

I say, I’m rich. Therefore I win.
Then i inflate my own ego…

And we continue down this cycle.

@NulliSecundus - yeah. Pretense isn’t my thing either. I’ve known really amiable people that have gone off to top Ivys (Harvard, namely) and then…there are those who ruin it for the entire batch (an acquaintance comes to mind - she felt the need to post her perfect ASVAB score on her Facebook status once…).
@themeaningoflife - hahah. I can see that dialogue unfolding.
Person: Well, I just got accepted into HYPSM…
themeaningoflife: I’M RICH. ALALALAL…
Person: Oh.
:p

What about if the person says, I own a multi-million dollar company(unlikely, but just for fun)?

Then that is merely stating a fact. An inflated ego is more of when you put others down to make yourself look better, or feel that you’re somehow better than everyone else when in reality that is not the case.

^Very Likely. Especially if it is a professional business like a pharmacy or hospital with sales tending generally to be in the multi millions.

Owning is a broad word. You didn’t define if it was sole ownership, a share holder, etc…

Nonetheless, if someone said that to me. I would first congratulate him, and tell him he is one step of the game.

However a college degree could still help him to a great extent.

^Not sure what that means.

Is it egoism if you all secretly like it when I brag?

You have 2000 posts! That’s major bragging points.

^ I already bragged about that in the actual 2000th post. Why? Because I’m that good.

Eiggh, one of the guys in quiz team felt the need to announce his 239 on the PSAT. We were all like “Eww, eww!” I mean, two of the girls are presidential scholars, so 2390 or 2400, and they don’t go telling us all about it.

How are they presidential scholars already? Each state only gets 1 girl, and they’ve only chosen finalists. So they’re finalists? That’s also amazing!

But yeah, I hate it when people tell me their stats. It’s like they’re assuming that no one else they know has better stats.

I don’t really like the vast majority of people on CC (I’m only judging them based on their posts, mind you) because all their egos are SO. DAMN. BIG.

Some modesty, people, please! I hope I don’t encounter people who value their self-worth so much at Yale next year…

^^Not finalists, I think. Whoopsies. I guess I mean nominees? Or candidates or something? I saw their names on the top 20 scorers from each state of each gender list. I don’t know much about the program. Sorry!

Where are you going to college Anon?!

@ahhhmotherland - Hahaha, I completely agree. The people I know going to Yale are phenomenal. By far the coolest group of people I know.

@Millancad - Oh yeah, nominees. But you’re right about them having 2390s or 2400s. It was just a small error, I was just confused. I was like “WHAAAAATTTTTTT??? HOW DOES OHIO KNOW ALREADY!!!”

I don’t know where I’m going to college actually. I know, I know. I just got off the Duke waitlist, but before that I was going to go to Princeton. But I love Yale too. And JHU. Or perhaps join you at MIT? Hahaha, idk.

That’s good to hear  Even on CC, it seems that those going to Yale are less… pretentious, perhaps, than those going to other top schools.

That’s not to say that there aren’t down-to-earth kids who’ll be attending other top schools, of course (you seem to be part of that group, Anon).

^^Everyone I know going to Yale is really cool. Well, I only really know one of them and the rest are just people I met/FB friended because we were both accepted to the same places, but the one I know is really awesome. We actually call him Precious sometimes. Only applied to Yale, got in SCEA. One and done.
And one of my very best friends is going to Princeton. She’s amazing. MIT rejected her :(, but Princeton has, as far as I know, never rejected someone I <3 who wanted to be there. So maybe it’s the cooler school?
And everyone I know who goes to Harvard is darling, even though I tell them they’re not on the cool side of Cambridge :). They’re like, three of the nicest, sweetest girls I have ever had the great fortune to meet. And there are two other girls from my school there who I assume are also incredibly awesome, but I don’t know them.

Super congrats on getting off the waitlist. That’s so impressive! If only I had your luck!

Yeah, I noticed that too. There is far less bragging on the Yale board. But then again, it’s Yale. So there’s going to be some level of arrogance about being a Yalie. But I stand by what I said, some of my BEST friends are going to Yale, and they’re the kind of people who will sit back and let other people brag about getting into schools and they’ve never once mentioned that they’re going to YALE. If I had to choose a school based off how much I love the people, I would go to Yale. You’re going to have a blast!

@Millancad - Thank you for the congrats! Everyone else is like “WHAT?! YOU’RE TURNING DOWN ASKDFJSKFHASDJDASHJAH UNIVERSITY FOR DUKE?!?!”
