<p>GSIs = graduate student instructors.</p>
<p>Uh, I think they generally have a prof teach the course and then use GSIs for discussion sections. Which I think is totally reasonable, by the way -- a grad student is going to have a <em>ton</em> of knowledge and may well be better at communicating it to the undergrads. I personally know several professors who I can't imagine would make very effective teachers and several ex-GSIs who I'm sure were.</p>
<p>Some classes are def. taught by grad students, but not whole lot of them, esp not core classes.</p>
