Are Spanish classes hard?

Are they hard at UMich?
Also does LSA students have to take 4 semesters of foreign language?

The difficulty of language classes is mostly based on how well you perform at the language and how easy it is for you personally to learn it.

The requirement is that U-M students in LSA must attain a fourth-semester proficiency in a foreign language. How many semesters you actually take is based on how many years of the language a student takes in high school as well as his or her performance on the placement exam for their respective language. Some students (not many, though) do not test out of any semesters and have to take all four, and some students test out of three or more semesters.

Then some students, like me, test out of a couple semesters but decide to take a completely different language and therefore have to take all four semesters as a result. But I don’t know how common we are. :)

Is learning another language easy?
If your answer is yes, then it will be no different at Michigan.

LSA students have to take (or place out of) 4 semesters of foreign language for the AB and BS degrees. BGS does not have a language requirement.

If you have 4 years of high school language, then you will likely place out of 2-4 semesters of language.
