For example, a perfect score applies to Brown to study engineering, but also to MIT, CalTech, Stanford, etc. If Brown knows top school will admit that student, it would be better for Brown’s yield to reject this person and admit someone who whose first choice is Brown.</p>

<p>^No. Colleges make admissions decisions after evaluating the particular applicant in the context of what the institution is looking for. In fact, tippy top applicants are often admitted to multiple tippy top schools.</p>
