Are Stony Brook, Buffalo, and Binghamton party schools?

I currently attend Ualbany. This is really a big party school. My suitemates go to party every night, and bring girls to the dorm. I want to transfer to another SUNY school. But, my friend said all SUNY schools are party schools, and stony Brook has bigger party scene than Ualbany, because it’s closer to New York City. Is it true?

A lot of my friends go to Binghamton. If you want to party there, you have to physically leave campus and go downtown to the bars and frats (from what I hear). So I wouldn’t consider that a party school.

There will be kids who party at just about every school. Are your suitemates interrupting your studies? Are you being asked to leave your room for them? If not, ignore them. If they are doing things that impact you personally and you’ve talked to them, try changing dorms first. I think changing schools should be a last resort.

What does that even mean? It’s over an hour train ride to get to the city from Stony Brook, is he arguing that students are headed to Manhattan to party every night? Or city-dwelling partiers are coming out to Stony Brook? If anything, SB has a huge commuter/suitcase school reputation. More like a dead campus than a partying campus. I agree with austinmshauri that you’ll find this at a lot of schools but you’ll also find non-partiers at all schools.
