Just receive a mail from enrollment services why I was rejected, but really it sounds funny, unbelievable and very stupid...this is what I got as response "I am sorry that you had to receive this disappointing news. The reason you were not offered admission had nothing to do with your SAT scores. You have completed a diploma in a technical stream and this is not eligible for admission to any of our programs". Please someone help me...i can't just comprehend this mail, sounds so stupid....

You need to complete the standard 10+2 or 11+1 format of high school years to be eligible.

If you are from the US, you have to complete the freshman, sophomore, junior, senior sequence of high school years.

In the UK, you have to give the O-levels at age 15/16, followed by the A-Levels at age 17/18.

In India and some South and South East-Asian countries you have a to sit for a Nation wide 12th grade end-of-year examination.

If you have a pre-engineering diploma or have attended some type of technical school instead of a high school, you are (sorry to inform you) ineligible for admission at McgiIll, and for that matter, most other univs and colleges in the USA and Canada.

@upapilot. Thanks for your clinical answer. But the stuff is I did follow the UK system, got my O-levels in 11 subjects at the age of 15. Then in high school due to my love of economics and statistics got into the commercial department obtaining my Advanced level at 17, it doesn’t make my certificate different from that of a grammar student. BTW I just received my decision from Duke university ( which is positive). The claims Mcgill is making are based on no concrete facts. In fact, if I had the available resources I would sue Mcgill for wasting my time, application fee and treachery.

You received your decision from Duke? Wow congrats! But how did you get your decision so early? The official notification date is 1st April…

As for your McGill decision, I can only speculate that you may not have met their subject requirements. Different faculties and departments have their own specific high school courses and subject requirements.

Thanks. I was enrolled for the MasterCard Scholarship ( successful), maybe that is why I got a decision so quickly. BTW I had applied since nov 2013…so it matches the response

Great mate! Why bother with McGill when you’ve already got into Duke with scholarship ? :)

I was so much interested in Mcgill’s joint Arts & science program…

@upapilot. Already moved in to Mcgill from India?

@dexter25 No, no, still a long time before I enroll. The term begins Sept 2014…

oh ok…great congrats once more man…and thanks for all your advices…did help a lot
