Are subject tests a big deal?

I've only taken 2 SATIIs so far:
US Hist - 650, but 5 on the AP (yeah..I don't know what happened)
Math Level 2 - 730 (not good for me, especially since I was in BC Calc this past year)

I plan on retaking Math Level 2 but not US Hist (I've definitely forgotten a TON of information). Do you think I should take another subject test so that I can get something over a 650 to kind of "replace" US History? I plan on going to a UC and I don't know how big of a deal subject tests actually are. Are they on the same caliber as the SAT or is it just more of a requirement for applications?

the thing with the sat IIs and the UCs is that they don't have many ways to evaluate your application. I don't think the UCs require teacher recommendations, so your SATs will probably have more weight. If you have a 2100+ on the new SAT I, you shouldn't worry all that much about your SAT IIs. I'm a CA resident, and plenty of people at my school got into berkeley with similar SAT IIs. You're also from CA, so it's not that big a deal. If you really think you can get higher, retake the math IIC. But if it doesn't work out, don't worry about it. You're fine.
