Are Subject Tests really that important?

Hey everyone, so I got a 720 on lit and a 720 on us history but I'm hearing that these aren't very good scores. The problem is I can't retake my subject tests for various reasons so I'm stuck with them. So will these scores hurt me? Or will it just be a won't help won't hurt situation? Thanks.

720 is way above average for any subjects. It should be fine for most schools. Only for the very top schools that require SAT2 scores would like to see higher SAT2 scores.

Will those scores hurt me for Northwestern? They don’t require subject tests but they say they’re highly recommended

If they don’t require SAT2 and your scores are above 85% students, I don’t think that would hurt. At least you will be ahead of those that do not take/submit SAT2 scores. For Ivies caliber schools that require SAT2, getting scores above 90% would be helpful.

SAT II scores are only really important if the school requires them for admission.
But if not, it does look good that you took it and got a high score like you did. Don’t worry!
