Are supplemental materials a big no-no?

I wanted to send in one article that I wrote from our school paper while serving as EIC that directly relates to something im referring to and a point im making in my “why brown?” essay, and I’m very confident that it is written well…though it is somewhat long since it was a cover story.

It’s also being sent to international competitions…which our school has traditionally done very well in (we’re one of the top ranked papers in north america) so I really want to send it, but would AdComs be annoyed if i sent them extra material?

Also, it’s a print story not on our online edition just yet so should I scan it if it’s okay to send? what would be most convienient to the admissions officers?

No they will not be annoyed as long as it adds something constructive to your application that they cannot infer from elsewhere. I’ve spoken to a Brown admission officer about this and am submitting a writing supplement myself.
