Are the AP USH FRQ written in pen? FRQ answer?

do you need a pencil for the MC and have to write the essays in pen?

To score at least a 5 out of 9 on the FRQs is there an ideal size essay you have to write? I understand quality will be the first priority than quantity but is there a general rule on length?

Umm, well, you do need to write your essays in pen. It’s mostly out of kindness to the readers, because the pencil can be really hard to read, especially if it’s gotten smudged or faded.

As for an idea size, I couldn’t tell you. As long as it takes you to answer all facets of the essay prompt with accuracy, probably.

I would say no less than three paragraphs…and with three paragraphs of loaded info. Intro, then information, then more information, and maybe like 1 or 2 sentences to sum it all up. The readers don’t expect you to write a perfect conclusion. They care mostly about the body paragraphs.

Thanks, that really helps!
