Are the college app. the same every year?

I think the format tends to change, but does the content change too? (i.e. the topic of the essays) or are the same every year?

and btw, what is a common applicantion?
and a personal statement?

<p>The common app is accepted by many colleges, however each college usually have a supplementary section. The common app doesn't really change that much.</p>

<p>A personal statement is just your college essay, it's "personal statement" because you are showing your best self, talking about YOU "personal".</p>
