Are the job prospects different if I major in Computer Science through the LSA school?

Are they worse than if I would have majored in it through the engineering school? Or the same?

It’s the same. No one pays attention. No one cares.

Just curious why does the school offer two of the same programs then? I must be missing something pretty obvious haha.

Well, if you do CS through LSA, you get more exposure to the liberal arts and sciences. That appeals to some people. Others prefer to zero in more on CS and related subjects, making humanities and arts, etc., much more of a sidelight. I think this flexibility is one of the strengths of Michigan’s undergraduate academics.

I assume that CS through LSA would mean a 2 year language requirement which can be a GPA killer for some people.

I’m pretty sure that every Michigan student has taken a foreign language in high school. They can place out of all four of them when they take the placement exam. Plus, I’m pretty sure most would think the language requirement is easier than Calc 3, 4 and Physics
