Are the majors you put for transfer apps binding?

I want to put Classics as one of my potential majors. However, I am only partly doing this as a strategic tactic. I have extensive extra-curricular in Classics and I will only pursue it if I have room for a triple major (or maybe a 40% chance for as a double major). Anyway, are they binding? Thanks

I don’t have an official answer as it may vary by school, but I would think that it’s not binding. Once you’re in, you’re in and as long as you’re a continuing paying student, then I don’t think they can turn you away unless you get on academic probation etc.

People change thieir minds all the time. I don’t think schools can typically expect a transfer to always stick to the major they transferred with when at least 1/2 of their traditional students will switch majors by juinior year.

Best to check with the individual school though.

^ However, some school require interdepartmental transfers to apply in order to change majors, and there is a possibility of being denied into a department.
