Are there some relaxed/kicked back people at this school. If so what are some examples.

Are you talking about students? If so, the fact that they are always at the top of the party/drinking/smoking lists should be a pretty good indicator that there are plently of "kicked back" people at UW.

Absolutely!

Do those people occupy the majority of student body?
Is the learning milieu productive in the school?

I believe the term is work hard party hard. Most people find time to do both.

My son is a freshman (not at UW, although many friends attend the local flagship). It's a little early to tell, but according to the grapevine, the HS partiers are still partying, the HS hard-workers are still working hard. One of the locals was so relaxed that her parents moved her home before Labor Day; another is working diligently and actively avoiding frat parties.

It's a big, diverse school. You will find it all.

UW is 10% Greek. Smallest in the Big Ten. Shouldn't be hard to avoid.
