<p>They're close to $3000 and I don't remember ever reading about them anywhere before so I'm hoping they're part of the overall ~$8000 tuition. If not, that really really sucks cause I don't have enough loans and grants then. Grrrrr.</p>
<p>thats the tuition fees for the fall quarter. i was curious about that myself so i called the billing office and thats what they told me.</p>

<p>They should really have the word 'tuition' in the name of the fees because I freaked out and assumed these were some fees in addition to tuition.</p>
<p>They don't use the term "tuition" because legally UC is prohibited from charging "tuition" to California residents. So they charge "fees" for all services except actual instruction, and don't call it "tuition". It's still a charge for attending, whatever they call it.</p>
