Are there any boarding schools that don't require reccomendation letters?

I am looking to do a post graduate year. I was wondering if there are any schools that do not require reccomendation letters or at least don’t require them from your current year English teacher. She’s the only teacher I’ve ever had that doesn’t like me so I would like to avoid that. Anyone know of places.

None that I have heard of.

Not liking you may not mean a bad recc., if you do well in class and she is professional.
If you don’t do well in English, that’s a different and larger issue.

Why don’t you talk to her about it? Most people are fair even to those they dislike.

Can you get a letter from last years teacher?

I never heard of any, but you are certainly welcome to contact the admissions office.

However, they will definitely raise a question why you can not submit (a) recommendation letter(s). You do not want to have an automatic -1 point in a 5-point criteria [assuming that school’s admissions uses a 5-point criteria] just because your teacher does not like you.

I would suggest that you personally talk to your English teacher, and ask her how well did you do in her class, and such questions. You are now applying for a post-graduate year so I assume that you know well enough what is the difference between a good and a bad review, as well as non-verbals. Go give it a shot.

The recommendations are a vital aspect of an applicant’s application, and that’s why many, if not all boarding schools have that requirement.

Have you ever asked your English teacher why she has exhibited so much aggression towards you? I’ve found that diplomatic conversations work best when trying to clear up complications with teachers. And I doubt that she would write negative comments in a recommendation. Teachers writing recommendations try to remain as professional as possible, since they do want their students to prosper, after all.
