Hey. I go to a really hard private prep school, and freshman year, I was NOT ready for the workload. I ended up with a 3.53, which is really bad to me :/ But I'm a sophomore now, and I'm maintaining a 4.28 GPA...without honors (can someone explain this to me?). I hate that I screwed up so badly my freshman year. I know that colleges ALWAYS consider freshman year grades in some way, at least look at them, but are there any that calculate GPA without freshman year grades? I heard about the UCs and Carnegie Mellon, but I'm not sure.

Stanford does.

UC and CSU:

I’ve heard that Princeton cares less about Freshman GPA.

Someone did some research on this a few years ago:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/555244-colleges-dont-factor-freshman-gpa.html

Having a 3.5 as a freshman does not effectively end your chances of getting into college. Do well from here on out and show that you CAN handle the workload. A rising grade trend is good.

The trouble with suggesting Stanford and Princeton is that both use Class Rank as a factor in admissions. Thus, Frosh grades DO count.
