I’m a junior in high school and have been figure skating for 8 years. I have passed up to my junior moves, and plan to pass senior by August. I have also tested up to my intermediate free skate. I skated on a synchronized skating team in the intermediate level in my sophomore year, and have been on a Theatre On Ice team for five years. My Theatre On Ice team placed third at nationals and competed at Worlds during my sophomore year, and I was team captain. I know that some colleges have synchronized skating teams and other figure skating collegiate teams, and I was wondering if any colleges recruit high school students for them. If there are any colleges, which ones, and what would my chances be of getting recruited?
Thanks so much.
Ask when you are at competitions. Your group would know more than anyone else.
Don’t think that ‘recruit’ means they come after you. YOU need to send in applications and contact coaches. I would not count on a lot of money with the scholarships.
This isn’t exactly figure skating, but maybe you’d be interested in this:

Adrian College in Michigan
Miami U of Oh and also I am pretty sure Hayden does something for skaters that go to school in their area. But I do know at Miami U of OH you get accepted then try out for the team.
Check the USA figuring Skating list of colleges with programs. These can be clubs or whatever.

Have you tried asking about this on one of the figure skating forums, like Figure Skating Universe or GoldenSkate? Some one there might be able to help.
