Are there any disadvantages for committing to a college at/near the deadline?

<p>Currently I'm still waiting for Cal Poly Pomona and the deadline for committing to ucr is on May 1st. I'm just wondering if I will be at a disadvantage in terms of picking classes and dorm slots.</p>
