Are there any exceptions that lets you retake a class you got a C in?

In my CC (Orange Coast College) they don't allow you to retake a class if you got a C in it. However are there any exceptions that lets you move around that rule?

I did extremely bad on my 2nd semester of freshmen year there (4 C's, 1 B) so if I were to get straight A's for the next 2 semesters I would only be a 3.3 UW.

I'll try to ask the counselor if there is a way to retake those classes. I'm planning on telling him/her that all 5 of those classes in 2nd semester are reading based (anthro, geography, history, english, pyschology)and I could not handle all the reading from 5 classes, that I did not know my abilities and want a second chance.

Thanks for any advice!

I’ve never heard of that rule before; you should certainly double check with your adviser.

I have heard of that rule. Most schools will not let you retake a class if you got a C or better unless there are serious reasons. Like if someone in your immediate family died or you were in the hospital with a life threatening disease.

You need to look in the school catalog and find the exact policy.

At my current school you are able to re-take any class you want, but both grades show up on your transcript and are used to determine your GPA.
